GLENDALE – Arizona Christian and Embry-Riddle (AZ) played a thrilling five set finishing match to the Firestorm Volleyball Classic on Saturday. Paired with their victory against Lewis-Clark State earlier in the day, the Firestorm improved to 4-0 on the young season with their win over the Eagles.
ACU beat Embry-Riddle for the first time in 10 meetings.
“I have never been prouder of our team then how our athletes have battled this weekend,” Coach Briscoe said. “We asked them to show up and give us their most gritty effort. They did exactly that in the midst of fierce competition. Our team dug deep and tapped into potential that we have never seen before. To finish the weekend winning a five set thriller while going 4-0 on the weekend was a true testament to teamwork we saw from our athletes.
“Tomorrow’s day of rest will be much needed for our athletes and a great opportunity to thank God for the many gifts He has given us!“
On Friday, Arizona Christian will host Park-Gilbert and Trinity International for a tri-match in the Firestorm Recreation Center. The ACU matches will be at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm. A Park/Trinity match will be sandwiched in between their matches with the Firestorm.
